Battle of the Salons is a competitive runway event where the area’s top salons compete for cash prizes and the title of “Top Salon.” This Hair-Raising experience is a single elimination, winner-takes-all, extreme hair styling competition. For six weeks, the top Salons in your area will be working with their staff and models to come up with the most amazing and off-the-wall hair styles. Each week, competing salons are critiqued and awarded points based on dramatically themed hair, make-up application, and model’s ability to work the runway. In the world of hair, anything can happen!

I was the assistant to Sean Faries, who was the Marketing Manager at Harbor Lending, Inc. while also the CEO of Battle of the Salons and Co-Owner of The Native Lounge. For Harbor Lending, I designed several small graphics for their website, including a loan timeline graphic, and also assisted in planning and executing their Chamber of Commerce party. I helped manage donations for a raffle, bring in a band, designed and ordered a Step-and-Repeat backdrop for the photographer, and finished the design on the flyers and posters to advertise the event.

As a PAWS shelter board member, I participated in monthly meetings to manage volunteer involvement and strategize growth. I managed the PAWS brand through involvement with the US Naval Command’s movie theater, newspaper, grocery store, Exchange, and other outlets to draw attention to the animals in need of care and homes. I wrote articles, created digital and print ads, and managed the annual fundraising banquet. I also participated as a foster mom for neonatal kittens and cooperated with other bases and shelters to facilitate placement of animals into forever homes.

During slower times for the program (when the resort went under construction) I cross-trained with the Room Reservations department and began working the closing shift in the department.
